Privacy and data

How does contact sync work?

If you decide to use our social features (which we really recommend!) you’ll be asked to add a photo and contact sync. The only thing that is done with that contact sync is checking whether you have existing friends using the platform that match your contacts.

We do not store your contacts. We simply check for any numbers that match, and then ask you if you want to add them as friends. In addition, we will never message any of your contacts. No other user can see or access your contacts, and our servers do not store them.

Does Youni sell data?

No. We do not user sell data, and we never will.

You can check out our privacy policies which will tell you just as much too. If you think an organiser on Youni is misusing your data, please contact us so we can investigate.

How do I change my privacy settings?

We think user privacy is super important. You can control on Youni who can see you on attendee lists / group follower lists. Firstly, worth pointing out that everyone in your uni portal is a verified student, which means no fake accounts / no trolls / no creepy old men stalking you.

That being said, we know some prefer to be a bit more incognito. You can change your privacy settings such that only friends can see what events / groups you’re a part of. In addition, for any private group or private event, regardless of your personal privacy settings, only those that are a part of that group / event can see whether you’re attending / following or not.
